Auto mechanic 150x150 Defective Auto RepairAuto Dealership to Pay Portion of $14 Million Settlement in Rollover Crash

The AP (1/11) reported that three sons of a couple who were killed in a 2006 auto accident have been awarded $14.5 million in a wrongful death suit. The jury also decided that a San Diego car dealership that sold the couple the Ford E350 Sportsmobile van they were driving will pay between $8.5 and $11 million of the settlement. According to the suit, the couple was driving in Arizona when a right-rear tire-tread separation caused the driver to lose control of the vehicle, roll over, and crash. The jury found that the dealership performed a defective tire repair instead of removing the tire from service.
